Admission Guidelines

Students will be considered for admission to Our Lady of Victory Catholic School who are willing to agree with and abide by the religious, academic, and behavioral requirements of the school and whose parents/guardians demonstrate a desire for the school to assist them in their parental role as primary educators.

Continued enrollment in any given school year, and re-enrollment in any subsequent years is subject to the parents/guardians continued support of the mission of the school, as documented in the Family Handbook, and the maintenance of a demonstrably effective and supportive relationship between the school and family.  The School Administration with cause may withhold that agreement.  The re-enrollment process usually begins in February at which time a non-refundable registration fee is due for the following year.

In accordance with the teaching of the Catholic Church, Catholic Schools shall not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, or national origin in the administration of its educational policies and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Age requirements for admission are as follows:

Pre-Kindergarten:

Archdiocesan requirements stipulate that no child may be admitted to Pre-Kindergarten unless he or she is four (4) years old on or before September 1st in the year he or she proposes to enter school.

Kindergarten and First Grade:

The Georgia state law is followed for beginning age requirements for school entrance to grades Kindergarten and First:

    1. No child may be admitted to Kindergarten unless he or she is five (5) years old on or before September 1st in the year he or she proposes to enter school.

    2. No child may be admitted to First Grade unless he or she is six (6) years old on or before September 1st   in the year he or she proposes to enter school.

    3. Admission of a child from another state is based upon the age requirement of that jurisdiction.

The OLV Admission Open House is customarily held in January, at which time the application for admission for the following school year is available.  You may also visit the school website or contact the Admission Department for an application packet.

Requirements for applying for enrollment:

     1. The non-refundable application fee must accompany the Application Packet.

     2. A student applying for admission must present a certified copy of his or her academic transcript from the school previously attended as a pre-requisite for

admission.  In addition, students applying for admission to the seventh and eighth grade must present a certified copy of their disciplinary record.

     3. Parents are further required to submit a certified ORIGINAL birth certificate (a copy will be retained), a copy of the Baptismal certificate, and a valid Georgia

Certificate of Immunization form (Form 3231).  All children must meet state standards for immunization.  Georgia law requires that a certificate of good health be

presented yearly.  Students playing in the After School Sports Program (grades 6-8) are required to have a physical prior to the start of practices.

     4. When the Admission Packet with all supporting documents has been received and verified, parents/guardians will be contacted to schedule a readiness assessment

(PK-K) or screening assessment (1-8).  The non-refundable assessment fee is required prior to testing.  Entrance assessments are required of all candidates for

     admission.

     5. After the candidate’s completed Admission Packet and Assessment have been evaluated, the Admission Committee will make a decision and the

parent(s)/guardian(s) will be notified in writing, in accordance to GISA guidelines, to the address in the Admission file.  Our Lady of Victory’s order of acceptance is

     as follows:

  • Currently enrolled students
  • Siblings of currently enrolled students or alumni
  • Staff children
  • Catholic School transfers
  • The Catholic community-at-large (feeder parishes)
  • Non-Catholic community members

Local transfer of students into eighth grade is generally not considered unless due to relocation to the Atlanta area and the student was attending a Catholic or private school.

Students who enter Our Lady of Victory Catholic School from a home-school program shall be placed in a grade level based on an academic assessment determined by the Admission Committee.

Verification by the pastor of active family participation in the Catholic parish will be an important factor in the admission process. All Catholic students must provide a Parish Verification form yearly from their home parish indicating a status of “active” Catholic.  It is an expectation of all Catholic parents to be active in their parish affiliation and contribute time, talent and treasure to their parish.

All students are accepted on a probationary basis for their first marking period at Our Lady of Victory.  At that time, OLV will evaluate the student’s placement to ensure that spiritual and academic needs are being met.

Admission to Our Lady of Victory Catholic School is dependant upon all financial obligations having been met at a previous private school, where applicable.  A family may not carry over tuition owed from a previous year.  No eighth grade student is guaranteed admission to an Archdiocesan high school simply based on graduation from Our Lady of Victory.

Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance is available to Catholic families.  Packets are available from the Business Office.  Amounts awarded are dependant upon need and availability of funds as well as timeliness in submitting the forms by the deadline established by the Archdiocesan Office of Catholic Education.  Families will be notified, in writing, of the amount of their grant.  Families must reapply each year for tuition assistance.  A signed Parish Verification is required each year before tuition assistance is granted.
