Battle of the Books Our Lady of Victory Catholic School Competitions
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The OLV Battle of the Books competitions are rapidly approaching. Students in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades will compete for the top spot and a chance to represent OLV at the Archdiocesan championships at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School on Thursday, May 8th. Students will have practice rounds during their library classes over the next few weeks in preparation for the main competitions during the week of April 21st. During the classroom competitions teams will compete to eliminate to the top two teams. On Friday, April 25th, at 8:30AM, the top two teams in each grade will compete with in the OLV Final Competition in the cafeteria. The winning teams in each grade will then go on to compete at the Archdiocesan level at St. Jude’s. Approximately 15 other Catholic schools are participating this year. Here is the competition schedule for OLV:
Most teams have read all the assigned titles. There is a three-ring binder in the Media Center with copies of assigned books to read for each student. The students have been using this for the last few months to keep track of their progress. The students are responsible for working as a team and completing their assignments. The students have also been introduced to a variety of “tools” to help them with reading comprehension and review strategies over the past few months. This will help them to review as a team.

Thank you,
Ms. Williams OLV Librarian |
