Home & School Volunteer Activities

Volunteer Form

 

Volunteers are the backbone of our programs and crucial to the success of private/parochial schools.  Since tuition alone covers only 85% of the overall costs to operate private/parochial schools, it is very important that all families actively participate in available volunteer activities.  There are enough opportunities for everyone to find a talent that they can contribute to OLV that will either save on expenses or accent revenue.  Based on the descriptions below, please be generous when you are making your selections on the attached Selection Form. 

 

All volunteers who may come in contact with students MUST complete an Archdiocese of Atlanta volunteer packet, view a Safe Environment DVD and be background checked.  You may request a packet from the front office. 

 

 

Fundraising Committees   Chairperson:  Kellie Loges and Alana Mueller

 

Silent / Live Auction                                          

Chairpersons: Kellie Loges & Alana Mueller

Assist with organizing of the actual event.  Communicate with all facets of the community on the event and insure a successful affair.

 

Boosterthon                                                                              

Chairperson:  Mrs. Laumann

Assist with tallying student laps and distribution of refreshments.

 

Used Uniform Sale

Assist with coordinating with families and organizing used uniforms for end of the year sale.

 

 

Hospitality Committees   Chairperson:  Annmarie Gilbert

 

The Hospitality Chairperson will coordinate social events that take place at Our Lady of Victory. He/She will have a designated committee to help with these events.This includes but is not limited to: coordinating monthly fellowship dinner for the school, Staff Appreciation Week luncheon, First Communion Reception (work done by 1st grade parents), and any other school wide functions that are intended for family fellowship. This position, as all HSA positions requires attendance at meetings, both executive board and school meetings of the HSA.

 

Teacher Appreciation                                      

Chairperson:

Help prepare luncheons and other activities for Christmas and Teacher Appreciation Week.

 

Graduation                                                               

Chairperson:       *7th Grade Room Parent

Assist with planning and coordinating of graduation reception.

 

First Communion Reception                       

Chairperson:  *1st Grade Room Parent

Set up reception, which provides refreshments for communicants and their families.

 

Social Events                                                          

Chairperson:

Assist with catering and coordination of servers for special programs.

 

Volunteer Services:                     Chairperson:  Lisa DeVane

 

Media Center                                                          

Chairperson:  Ms. Williams

Assist Media Center specialist with checking out, shelving and accounting for the books in the Media Center.  Assist with the Book Fair by taking orders, assembling displays and distributing orders.

 

Art          

Chairperson:

Assist Art teacher with class projects and special art projects.

 

Gardening                                                                

Chairperson:

Assist with on-going outdoor landscaping and playground projects.

 

Clinic   

Chairperson:                                                                                                            

Assist with sick / injured children and contact parents.

 

Field Day                                                                   

Chairperson:

Assist with planning and supervising activities on the day of the event.

 

Food Service Cashier                                       

Chairperson: 

Check students in for lunch, operate the cash register for point-of-service purchases, stock a-la-carte rack and ice cream freezer, monitor table-cleaning buckets and replenish milk/juice cooler.

 

Room Parent                                                           

Chairperson:  Kari Kinamon

Assist homeroom teachers with events throughout the school year.  Attend room parent meetings to secure accurate information and to assist with disseminating the information to the parents in the community.  The homeroom teacher, in conjunction with the administration, will make the final decision concerning Room Parents.

 

 

Spiritual Life                                 Chairpersons:  Sharon Schultz and Ms. Blackerby      

 

Assist the OLV Community in keeping the love of Jesus Christ always as the main focus for everything we do everyday.  The monthly prayer group is a part of this committee where specific prayer needs are kept at the forefront of our daily lives. This committee will also be responsible for organizing meals for those in need with the food ministry, sending greeting cards for all occasions through the card ministry.

 

Cultural Arts                                 Chairperson:  Susie Couvillion and Mrs. Jones  

 

Work with faculty to identify and schedule grade-appropriate and curriculum-related cultural arts

programs.
