Mr. Crane

Middle Division Social Studies

I am very pleased to be back as the Social Studies teacher for the OLV students in the middle division.  This is my fourth full year of teaching Social Studies at OLV .

My educational background is as follows:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University, majoring in Physical Education and a minor in History.
  • Masters in Physical Education from Georgia State University.

Education Experience is a follows:

  • 30 years of teaching in Georgia Public Schools at all levels.

I look forward to the challenge of working with the OLV students and hope to inspire them to explore the world of history and geography.  I will continue the program “Where in the World is Mr. Crane”, to encourage students to learn more about the world around them. This will be a fun activity aired on WOLV, with clues given daily for my location and a winner selected each week.  It is my hope that the students will be able to learn and reflect about why history is important and how it can make them understand this complex world that we live in.

I am originally from Pennsylvania, but have made the Atlanta area my home since 1973. I have a wife, Nancy, the resource teacher here at OLV, whom I have been married to for 35 years. I have a wonderful daughter and son in law Jenni and Kerry Defler, three grandchildren, Hannah, Maddi and Bryce and a great son Lance.  I enjoy playing golf and I am an avid sports fan in general.  I also love to travel and hope to use those experiences with my classes. I also enjoy collecting old classic movies as well as going to the movies.

We had a recent addition to our family this summer as my daughter gave birth to our fourth grandchild, Brady Crane Defler. He is very healthy and growing fast as are our other grandchildren. They are truly a blessing!  My wife and I also enjoyed a wonderful trip to Europe this summer as we cruised the Mediterranean Sea.
