November-December:6th Grade Earth Science News
-
Congratulations to the 6th grade on their excellent Landscape Projects. Hopefully, you got an opportunity to see them on display in the Library.
-
Students are now working enthusiastically
on their Planet Projects and have created extremely professional and attractive PowerPoint presentations. A big thank you to Mrs. Roberts for her superb instruction on the use of PowerPoint. The Planet Presentations are full of colorful graphics, animations, sounds and interesting planetary facts which have made a very effective teaching tool as each student will educate the rest of the class on their assigned planet.
Content in November-December will cover:
- Earth's Resources - Water Cycle
- Alternate Energy Sources - Groundwater
- Weathering - Karst Topography
- Soil/Erosion - Earthquakes
Fun activities will include:
Making plastic from milk, investigating the effect of temperature on chemical weathering, investigating the permeability of soils, modeling contour plowing, making an aquifer, forming stalactites and stalagmites, playing Jeopardy games (with the theme music) and of course the Planet project presentations.
