November-December: 7th Grade Life Science News
Our students continue to amaze me with their creativity. Cell Analogy brochures were excellent! The cell was compared to a beehive, an amusement park, Callaway Gardens, a fort, an airport, a skate park, a zoo to name but a few. Hopefully, you got an opportunity to read the tour guides of the cell analogies when they were on display in the Library. These projects made an excellent culmination to our unit on the cell.
Content in November - December will include:
-Chromosomes - Evolution
- Genetics - Adaptation
- Mutations - Natural Selection
- Genetic tools - Fossil Record
Fun activities will include:
Taking a class survey of traits, Easter egg genetics, performing Punnett Squares to predict phenotypes and genotypes of offspring, karyotyping activity, reading pedigrees, growing albino corn, finger-printing, simulating beak adaptataions, natural selection in mice, making a fossil mold and a cast, and of course, Jeopardy games (with the theme music).
